Series 2: Behind the Scenes

An exclusive look behind the scenes of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Series 2.

Loreto Mandeville Hall in Toorak, Melbourne. The interior featured in 'The Blood of Juana the Mad' (Series 2, Episode 8). This was the first time the property had been used as a location for a drama production. #MissFisher #PhryneFisher #MandevilleHall #Toorak #Melbourne #behindthescenes

While we were filming in Queenscliff, Victoria, a stranger donated a selection of her grandmother's old 1960s hats to our designer. Luckily one of the felt hats matched Phryne's blue velvet jacket perfectly. The feather band was added from an original 1920s hat. #MissFisher #PhryneFisher #EssieDavis #hat #hats #vintage #fashion #costume #blue #velvet #1920s #behindthescenes

I wish it was being extended until next year - I am heading to Melbourne around Australia day and that would be top of my list of things to do!!

Cameo alert! Keep an eye out for Phryne Fisher author Kerry Greenwood and her partner David during tomorrow night's episode of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (Friday 8.30pm on ABC1) #MissFisher #PhryneFisher #KerryGreenwood #behindthescenes

This hat was donated to the ABC and our costume team reworked and restored it by re-embroidering the flowers and replacing the raffia. They also extended the brim to make it a summer hat for Phryne's beach holiday. #MissFisher #PhryneFisher #EssieDavis #hat #hats #accessories #fashion #style #vintagefashion #1920s #embroidery

The fabric for Phryne's ensembles and trims for her hats was purchased from different locations around the world - from Europe, UK and the USA, to Asia, India and South America. Many of Phryne's car coats were made from Indian Saris. #MissFisher #PhryneFisher #EssieDavis #fashion #style #vintagefashion #1920s #material #fabric #red #gold #sari

Miss Fisher wears this headpiece in 'Death Comes Knocking' (Series 2, Episode 2). The original item was an existing headpiece, however the assistant designer had to recreate a second one for a stunt double to wear. He found shoes in an op shop with similar beading and made a copy of the original from the shoe detail. #MissFisher #PhryneFisher #accessories #jewellery #headpiece #fashion #style #costume #1920s

Behind the Scenes Fact: Essie Davis learnt her fan dance from cabaret performer Gypsy Wood - and went along to see one of Gypsy's burlesque shows at The Famous Spiegeltent in Melbourne in preparation. Essie only had a couple of lessons before shooting the scene! #MissFisher #PhryneFisher #EssieDavis #fandance #burlesque #feathers
