As a young medical student, Guevara traveled throughout Latin America and was radically transformed by the endemic poverty and alienation he witnessed. "On this day" (14 June) : TWA Flight 847 was hijacked on June 14, 1985 after originally taking off from Cairo. The flight was en route from Athens to Rome and then scheduled to terminate in London. The passengers and crew endured a three-day intercontinental ordeal. Some passengers were threatened and some beaten. "In the Picture" : Robert Dean Stethem, a Navy diver, Steelworker 2nd Class , who was targeted as a member of the U.S. military and was tortured & shot dead.
