The 2005 is dark red, almost deep crimson in color. The nose is dense and compact, filled with dark berries, tobacco, black cherries and cacao. Black fruit and licorice linger throughout the evolution in mouth, well-balanced and harmonious. 96 points by Robert Parker.

$24 - The Jefferson Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon displays aromatics of red berries, slightly spicy notes, hints of nutmeg and vanilla. The flavors follow with dark berries, herbs and spice, and hints of vanilla carry through to the palate. This wine is full-bodied, very nicely balanced and rich, yet has a nice thread of acidity to maintain balance and tension. The cabernet sauvignon grapes are sourced from three Monticello owned Napa vineyards in Yountville, Rutherford and St. Helena.
