Matlock - legal drama, starring Andy Griffith in the title role of criminal defense attorney Ben Matlock.The show originally aired from September 23, 1986 to May 8, 1992 on NBC and from November 5, 1992 until May 7, 1995 on ABC. The show's format - Matlock identifying the perpetrators then confronting them in dramatic courtroom scenes. Matlock usually secures an acquittal at trial from the jury.
True Detective, HBO - Is it conceivable that a new show can fill the gaping void left by the poetry that was Breaking Bad? Not so fast--it's still early--then this 8-eps incarnation blows up. But, 5 hours in, I'm hooked. This is probably the most atmospheric television I've ever seen. The acting and dialogue are mesmerizing, thanks to the lead actors and the writers. We are truly in a new Golden Age of Television. (added 3/18/14) Can't wait to see what's in store for next season!
All in the Family was originally broadcast on the CBS television network from January 12, 1971, to April 8, 1979. In September 1979, a new show, Archie Bunker's Place, picked up where All in the Family had ended. This sitcom lasted another four years, ending its run in 1983.
