I don't think I've seen this pinned here, but this would be a huge hit! :) Sentence Surgery…laminated unedited sentence strips, bandaid strips for ending punctuation, small round bandages for commas and quotations, tongue depressors to mark capitalization, and ‘Emergency Kit’ paper bags w/ red cross on them (to keep surgery supplies).

Maybe this can help me with teaching fragments and run ons for my 5th graders! Can be adjusted to use K-6the kids loved it!

181-190 Identifies the period as the correct punctuation for declarative sentences.

Put up two different paragraphs cut apart into sentences. Mix them up and students determine which sentence was the main idea or topic sentence. Put the supporting details in a good order. (See blog for ex.)
