Border Network for Human Rights

Johan Teterissa is a primary school teacher from Indonesia. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison because he was leading a peaceful protest where the protestors raised the flag of Maluku. Maluku is a part of Indonesia, and the Indonesian government has been trying to violently stop the independence movement. Teterissa is not the only one sentenced to prison for this reason. The ones sentenced have not gone through objective and rightful trials, and they have suffered from violence and torture.
