Society Hill. This area on the eastern side of 'Center City' Philadelphia was 're-born' in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Colonial townhouses dating from the 1700's were renovated..and I think that the word 'gentrified'...best describes the influx of high income professional people. Although I now live near Miami..whenever I return to my beloved hometown..Philadelphia..I enjoy Society Hill.
