Today is the fall equinox. What a great way to talk about the shiny "snake" on the side of a Mayan pyramid. It appears twice a year--when the sun is just right.

Mayan: Snake at Chichen itza: It is reported that twice a year on the spring and autumn equinox, a shadow falls on the pyramid in the shape of a serpent. As the sun sets, this shadowy snake descends the steps to eventually join a stone serpent head at the base of the great staircase up the pyramid’s side.
