This is a cool looking picture for sure but... I think this artist must have been drunk or something. I have seen 2000 or more meteors in my life and I have never seen any turn 90` or turn around and head back the way they came or anything even close. Has anyone else seen anything remotely like this? I was fortunate enough to view the 1998 & 1999 Leonids. 1998 was a Fireball bonanza that I witnessed from the top of the tallest mountain in the county in one of the darkest skies east of the Mississippi on a moonless night with an absolutely crystal clear sky. Something I will treasure forever. We sometimes could see 3 or 4 fireballs at the same time! We estimated to have seen between six & eight hundred the night of the peak alone. They started before sunset and peaked before dawn... :) In 2030-2031 or so I believe, another huge outburst is predicted so I hope to have the pleasure again... be there if you're still breathing.
