The Grove, Jefferson, Texas - Called "The most haunted home in the most haunted city in Texas." There are footsteps heard in the house, but no one can be found to account for the phantom steps and apparitions ranging from a lady in a white dress to a man in the garden have become commonplace on the property.

It shook him so severely that one day when he and his wife made a wrong turn, and saw the signpost to Sudeley, he turned the car around; he refused to go anywhere near the place. (From the Fortean Times Messageboard) I visited Sudeley as a child, and found it fascinating, but it was also the subject of my second ever story, about a ghost. Very atmospheric.
