"Calming Jar" for Kids: when a child is overwhelmed, shake it up and have the child sit and watch it until all the glitter settles back to the bottom. The jar is a great time-out alternative when kids are simply overexcited, upset, or overstimulated rather than in need of correction (and would be great for teachers as well). Fill jar with 1T clear glue per cup of hot water, 1 inch glitter, and food coloring.
Calming Jar-tell your child that they need a break and may come back when everything has settled to the bottom. If you want to make your own calming jar (good for moms as well) they are really easy! All you need to do is: jar or bottle with a lid 1 tbsp of clear glue (or glitter glue) to each 1 cup of (hot) water to fill the jar add in glitter (about 1 inch of glitter) food coloring (optional)
Kids' settle down jar...Calm Down Jar This cute Time Out idea was on Pinterest and I decided I must make one! All I did was fill up a pint jar with water, 1 drop of blue food coloring and some glitter. I have whichever kid is "doing time" shake the bottle and watch it settle. Once the glitter has settled, they've had time to calm down and talk about their problem. It's quite soothing actually
