This board would be incomplete without a mention of Architeuthis dux, the mysterious giant squid: the largest known mollusk. They can reach 60 ft. in length. Their eyes are the size of dinner plates - the largest eyes in the world. Very little is known about them.

Not the giant squid... but the COLOSSAL squid. They both exist!

Spirula is the only genus of squid with an internal shell, a relic of their ammonoid ancestors. When Spirula die their fragile shells float to the surface and are collected on the beaches as "rams horn shells" - this one is encrusted with barnacles.
