Home Survival Skills: Get a Corded Phone
If you have phone service through the cable company, even a corded phone will only get service as long as your modem's back-up battery continues to supply power. In an extended outage, your cell phone may still be the best bet.
And if you only have a cell phone put it on airplane mode and only turn it on when necessary to save battery.
or get a little solar cell generator... not that expensive and would be MEGA helpful in case of a long-term black-out... We bought one a LONG time ago and it just sits in the basement... just in case...
Oh wow, does no one remember the old school ghetto blaster phones that only plugged into the phone jack?
We always have one corded phone in the house. You just never know.
I have a crank/solar powered emergency radio/flashlight that has a USB port to power a cell phone.
