We discovered today’s CMYLK subject, American artist Erin McIntosh, on Pinterest. Her abstract paintings and works on paper explore the current fascination with polyhedrons, with a dash of neon thrown in. The colors are also quite appealing; we love the resulting Colourlovers palettes we put together.
In a series of work entitled String Mirrors, South Korean artist Hong Sungchul creates three-dimensional sculptures/photographs made of string. The pieces consist of hundreds of printed on elastic strings that when lined up together, display an image. The strings are strung on several rows giving the pieces varied depth that is both delicate and beautifully presented.
We experimented with Sherwin-Williams’ new Chip It! color tool, which creates instant color palettes from any image on the web. We chose four paintings by Australian artist Miranda Skoczek, who works in a mixture of oil, acrylic, and enamel.
