The university has been a leader in encouraging new ideas and helping students, faculty and the state shepherd them to fruition. From agriculture to textiles to computer science to nanotechnology, NC State has driven technological innovation in North Carolina.
Graduating senior Saul Flores made his mark on NC State -- and the world. His 2010 walk from Ecuador to North Carolina still reverberates, raising awareness of the hardships immigrants endure to seek better lives.
NC State hired “Stormin’ Norman” to become head coach of its men’s basketball program in 1966. Sloan would come to join Everett Case, his former head coach, on a would-be Mt. Rushmore of NC State coaching greats after his team won the NCAA championship eight years later in 1974.
Students say “Thank you” for contributions by alumni, friends. Students were joined on the Brickyard today by Chancellor Randy Woodson, Mr. Wuf and others to sign a large Thank You card to show their appreciation for the alumni and friends of the university who have made contributions that help raise the quality of education at NC State.
