JAMES - SON OF HENRY STUART, Lord Darnley, and Mary Queen of Scots - became King James VI of Scotland in 1567, the year after his birth. He then waited patiently for Elizabeth I to die, when the thrones of England and Scotland might be joined, and in 1589 married Anne of Denmark. The couple had seven children.
James VI (Scotland) and I (England) is the son of Mary, Queen of Scots and Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley. Born 1566 in Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Scotland d. 27 March 1625, Herefordshire, England. His ascension to the English throne in 1603 ends the reigning House of Tudor and begins the ruling House of Stewart (Stuart).
Her son, Henry Stuart married Mary, Queen of Scots (8 December 1542 - 8 February 1587) on 29 July 1565, at Holyrood Palace. She was the daughter of Mary of Guise (22 November 1515 - 11 June 1560) and James V, King of Scots. Henry Stuart died on the night of 10 February 1566, in a explosion in Edinburgh. The couple had a son, James VI of Scotland (19 June 1566 - 27 March 1625). Matthew was the Regent for James VI.
