Glad it worked for you Mary. :)
you can use any kind of bar soap some people have reactions to the fels naptha
its funny if you click the pic and go to the blog the update says it lasted 9 months July to March my 9 yr old pointed that error out to me >.
I use almost the exact same recipe and mine has lasted more than 3 months for my family of five, plus I use twice as much per load as is indicated in the directions. I suppose it could be conceivable that a smaller family, using the indicated amount, could make it last nine months!
I was going to put the exact same thing as Amy Ewing Stachowiak. I have a family of 5 and use dbl the amount (since I have messy children) and mine has lasted 2 months and is still half full! Love it! :)
I have a family of 6 and I use less and it lasts 9 months, more is not always better. My clothes are really clean! I have used Charlies soap(1 tsp a load) for years and love it and thought I would try making my own with this recipe. Less is more and remember it doesn't have to bubble to mean it is working, it just needs to loosen the dirt for it to work. Vinegar rinse and my clothes smell so fresh!
Made this today w/ slight variation based on other pinned recipes. Despite cooking and blending, I still had separation w/ crust rising to top??? Any suggestions?
I'm not sure Lisa, as this recipe is for a powdered version, not liquid. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
@Lori - what error? July - March, including July and march is nine months..
I just bought all the ingredients minus the oxy-clean type stuff. My kids aren't too messy so I figured I didn't have to get it. I can't wait to try this out.
Can't wait to try this!
