I could see someone doing a quilt like this.
I used to have my highschool art students paint these! Makes cute Christmas ornaments too!
great idea and we are going to the ocean this weekend!
I don't think these are painted sand dollars. I think it is polymer clay "sand dollars"
So colorful and pretty!
these are gorgeous but I don't get to the beach to collect these..hmm wonder if dollar store or walmarts have them?
Relaxing, reminds me of the beach ...
Very Pretty. I did a simular wall hanging using painted scallop sea shells.
very pretty - love the colors!
Where do we find directions for making the crafts etc. that we like or pin?
Love the colors!!!
Nancy - can we go back to Hilton Head so we can do this? please :)
I am buying blank sand dollars on ebay, cheap, and then I will just follow the color patterns. I am a painter so I already have all the colors. Looks like fun!!!
please tell me that these are faux sand dollars or at least that they are dead before you paint them..
I just love the colors!
I think we can see where the glass artist Dale Chilhuly got his inspiration! http://farm1.static.flickr....
If you have ever seen a live sand dollar you would know that they are covered in a kind of fur and you would not be able to paint them. there is a beach near my home called sand dollar beach, there are so many dead sand dollars that it is nearly impposiple to avoid stepping on them.
When I had my students paint sand dollars...it was just for a little extra credit. I had been lucky to find a big sack of them at a neighbor's yardsale. They were all dried out. Teachers feel lucky to find things like thes to stretch a public schools budget!
oh they looks very nice so beautiful colored
