I agree. It's probably due to the way she spreads he legs.
I agree too, for me it's the fact that she is tied up
I wish the artist had picked a more tasteful position, if it is offensive to you then you should not have pinned it. It is no more offensive then the other pictures. Interestingly enough that binding style is one she would have had to do. So her choice. Think about that...
That's not the way Disney princesses are supposed to be. Walt Disney would have been very displeased.
I thought about it. I really like the amazing work the artist did with those pictures. But I wasn´t sure if I could pin it. Why? We see lingerie models like that all the time. And my thought especially about the one about mulan: It tried too say that it´s too offensive for ME. I know that the problem is in my mind and not in the picture. :) I really like Mulan and her strength. Seeing her tied up schoked me when I saw it for the first time. BUT it has to do with the way girls are seen and shown in China. It was a great work and decision the artist did on it and I admire her a lot.
no, there is no symbolism behind it, it's disgusting. these are children's movies.
As it is a picture there is symbolism behind it. And why is it disgusting...because someone drew her in a different manner then the others? I would have to guess that this was pinned form the artist page, and the artist form my understanding is not Chinese. I think she is Mexican, but I could be wrong. So it is not how the girls are viewed in China, but how Chinese women are viewed. So maybe it has to do with the fact of how the Western world views Eastern women.
Also these might be children’s movie, but these drawings are not for children. None of the drawings in this collection are for children. So are you just upset with this one picture or are all of them disgusting? If this is an image that you do not like to see on a fictional character, then why is it okay for it to be on some nameless model, as it was said above we see this all the time. No, this image dose not match up with how many people envision Mulan, but dose it lessen her any more then the other images lessen the other girls?
Stephanie, Thank you for explaining what you ment and how you felt abou it ^_^ And thank you for be polite about my question and thoughts.
You´re welcome Ametra! :) I really appreciate smart and thoughtful comments. It was fun to think about yours and to answer it. :)
So you are attacking the fanbase, for something that could scar a child? And how is it sickening to see, people, women as sexual? All of these characters get married. They are old enough to marry. So, if they are old enough to marry....well. And there are filters for searches on many sites, now if they are in place are not, well that is not the artists fault. Nor is it their fault that, they made the logical jump from wedding, to wedding night… As for DeviantArt, if you do not like the site or what is put up then why are you going there. It is one of the few places where many artists can post their work and have it viewed in a protected environment. As for DeviantArt’s justifications, well they are the same ones that allow us to use Pinterest, post other peoples ideas and work, as well as have this conversation.
It is an form of expression, it dose not have to make us comfortable, the topic at hand may not before every age group, but talking about expression and how other express themselves is, it is important.
I am confused as to why her being bound is so much more offensive than just wearing stockings and suspenders...
It's a great picture imo.
Also, as a mother of three, I can assure you that no child is going to be reading anything into the ribbons tying her. Gah, offense by proxy really is the least classy form of discussion.
Eww. The whole picture, not just the ribbons is disgusting.
@Sydeny Well, why? Join in on the conversation with more then a comment. Tell us, why the picture is disgusting. Answer the perivous posed question if you please. Why do you think the picture is disgusting. ?
It's not just this one. It's all of them. Your not supposed to show your body this way, even if it is a cartoon. And it's not just these. It's the Victoria's Secret models, too. Our bodies are temples from God. Of course, what you do with your body that is your problem. But our bodies are not ours. They're Gods. (Even if this is a Cartoon, but I'm mostly talking about the Real life models.) He didn't give us them to flaunt around half naked. I don't even know why this picture was posted. The one that is really not that bad is Tiana's, which looks like a bathing suit.
@Jessica "Ariel" I agree with you!!!
Then it if it is our problem then do not worry about it. You are not to judge people on what they do or how they do it. That is not my place or your place to judge, only ask questions. As for how we are to dress, let us remember that we were not to be half naked but fully naked. Humans, people are the ones that clothed themselves finding the body shameful. God did not have us clothed nor did he give us clothing, that was a human invention. People should be able to be proud of their bodies with out worry. Also I see these pictures as a peek in to someones private life and treat it with the respect that it should be given. Respect for the body nor matter how it is shown is very important. It is never acceptable to attack a fanbase, or to call then names. Calling people sickos, is rude and hurtful. Name calling is beneath this conversation.
As for Tiana's I am not a fan of the picture mostly because I feel her face is a little off. But all in all, for the rest of the pictures I have seen swimsuits that cover less. Also you can see less of her and she is turned slightly away form the "camera". yet, others are full turned away and Snow White's outfit covers the most.
@Ametra ok listen. I did not comment to start an argument. I commented to show my opinion. I'm not judging. I just don't like the picture. Hey if you like it,
@Ametra be my guest. It's very well drawn. And you are true about Snow Whites. I don't think the pictures would be that bad if they weren't posing like that. And also, don't go attacking that 'Ariel' girl. She did nothing wrong. t=I have heard much more worse names. Also, I'm sure you've none your share of name calling.
P.S. And if you read Genesis, God gave Adam and Eve coverings of animal skin so technically, God invented clothing. :)
I am not attacking 'Ariel' I am stating that her comment about other people in general are rude and hurtful. Name calling is not appropriate and just because you have heard worst dose not make it okay. It just means people have grown a custom to it. As for starting an argument, well if that is what you see this is, then that is your point of view. I prefer an actual conversation as to argument. To make people think. Your comments allow for a response and should been given one.
ok I see your point.
