Volcano and Lightning

About 200 years ago it became known that lightning is an intermittent electrical discharge between lightning cloud and the earth’s surface, between two clouds or between individual parts of a single cloud. Thunderstorms are a real generator of atmospheric electricity.

"A huge storm churning through the atmosphere in Saturn's northern hemisphere overtakes itself as it encircles the planet. This picture was taken about 12 weeks after the storm began, and the clouds by this time had formed a tail that wrapped around the planet."
