This 50 year old whisky which was casked in 1961 has finally been bottled and is available for release to the world. In order to have a bottle in your collection, make sure that your pockets are filled with the required ¥1 million ($12,970) [a far cry from the $200,000 Tribute of Honor or even the 30,000 GBP whisky birthday bottle but impressive nevertheless)

The 11 bottles are being released to honor Janet Sheed roberts who at 110 years of age was not even born when the Glenfiddich distillery was founded. The 125 year old distillery was established by William Grant (Janet’s grandfather). Each bottle celebrates a decade of Janet’s life. We had earlier wrote about this limited edition where we expected the whisky to sell for £30,000 a bottle. Janet is also the oldest person in Scotland.
Designer Jamie Hewlett has used his chance of being features on a Absolut bottle by creating a special London theme. The bottle which reminded me of Oliver Twist’s London is basically supposed to showcase the style of the past 200 years of history of London. This means famous buildings such as St. Paul’s Cathedral make for the backdrop while seven different characters grace the front.
The limited edition is a tribute to Major Grant who would choose and keep aside 10 casks of single malt every year (for 25 years) for his own personal use. The 25 figure being his age when he took over as Master Distiller at Glen Grant once his father expired. His father, James Grant was one of the founding brothers that developed Glen Grant Whisky. Glen Grant is today the world’s number five selling single malt whisky.
