Subterranean MCV: 1937-1939, system of tunnels was built to connect buildings on campus of MCV & Capitol Square. They transported people, but main purpose of construction was to share a common steam heat infrastructure. Today, they still carry power, plumbing & other utility functions, but have been replaced for transport of people in the hospitals by sky bridges.
