Jem Fabric Warehouse: I'd have to say JEM Fabric Warehouse in Tribeca. It is a family owned business that stocks rare fabrics, trims and buttons that are either imported internationally or out of production (which makes them even more special). For example, I found this amazingly unique printed silk that was produced in the 1960s. Also, the store provides a number of different services such as upholstering to children's art classes. But what I love most is the vibe that you get when you are in the store. It has this easy, warm and freeing aura that is so unlike the city it is situated in. It really is this oasis of creative inspiration and expression in a city that can some times be so daunting and draining.
