I really like the waist on this too. I love Regency dresses, but the super high empire waist can be hard to pull off. I don't think this is Regency era, and I like this waistline ever so muchly. >.
It's not a Regency dress, it's about a decade beforehand. You are quite correct. However, some Regency films like to show the transition between this look and the empire waist, so I was thinking that the dresses you pinned were perhaps going after that idea? Actually, though, this look is way more comfortable than an empire waist. :D
