Social Learning Does Not Mean Social Media Learning - I continue to see articles on “Social Learning” when authors really mean social media learning. Please stop, and encourage others to do the same. Thanks.

I tried to change the name of my Pinboard from "Social Learning" to "Social Media Learning" and I am unable to change the name. Grrr. I agree with your post and my (and others) misuse of the label.

It's not wrong. SoMe learning is social learning, and you've pinned a lot of fun and useful things to support it. You can't change the name because... it's my board and I added you to contribute to it! I'll write more in a bit so we can get this all figured out. Thanks!

The Tipping Point + Social Networks

Facebook is the top social media marketing site, followed distantly by Twitter Nearly nine in 10 US companies with at least 100 employees will use social networks for marketing activities this year, eMarketer estimates. With so many companies tapping social networks to build brand awareness, gain new customers and keep current ones loyal, how much room is left for growth?

In a May 2012 study from performance marketing company Performics, 48% of US social network users who accessed at least one social site a day said they “liked” or followed an entertainment-related company or product on a social network.

By the end of 2012, eMarketer forecasts, roughly a third of all mobile phone owners will access social networks via their phones—essentially double the number that did so two years ago—and 85% of mobile social networkers will use Facebook.
