watch pocket - sleeve detail - 1850s silk taffeta dress, included button-in long sleeves, wide neckline adjustable with drawstrings, sleeves ruched at top and trimmed with silk fringe at hem, dress has back hook & eye closure, bodice boned, lined with ecru linen, skirt has small watch pocket in side front seam, hem faced with wide border of polished green cotton & green braid at hem, bust: 32"; waist: 22"; shoulder to hem: 56"; shoulder to waist: 12.5"

Bodice fully lined with cream linen and openings are lined with brightly printed calico. Skirt has cartridge pleating, hem edged with blue hem protector, has deep right side pocket, skirt lined with cream & brown polished cotton. Bust: 30"; Waist: 22"; back length of gown: 57".

close up of front edge showing hooks mounted to the lining layer. In many examples of dresses with gathered or pleated fronts the lining and top fabric don't seem to be sewn together along the front bodice edge.

Splendid 1860's Civil War Black Silk Mourning Dress eBay- fiddybee; over sleeve & hem of sleeve trimmed with black silk & black chenille velvet balls, same with bodice front, piping at neck, armscyes & waist; bodice cotton lined with front hook & eye closure, skirt attached w/ cartridge pleating, unlined except band of cotton at hem; some underarm discoloration on lining; some small holes & splits; bust: 34"; waist: 26"; skirt length: 42"; width at hem: 144"

Bodice line with cotton camisole that has short lace trimmed sleeves & front hook & eye closure. Neck, shoulders, armscyes are piped. Skirt unlined. Bust: 30"; Waist: 22"; skirt length: 43"; width at hem: 174".
