I totally agree about the Dark LIfe series. My family loved both of the books in this series.
Peak is a phenomenal book - but for totally different reasons than HG
I immediately thought of Scott Westerfield's Uglies series when I read HG
Would these books be as interesting to adults as HG? i hated Twilight and thought it very juvenile but loved HG.
I found Peak compelling as an adult. My students have read the Found, Lightening Thief, and Among series.
The Matched series was very good also.
I'd just like to read Hunger Games at some point! Haha.
I'm currently reading maze runner. It's really good!
The Shadow Children series really does have similarities to the hunger games. But I don't know if adults would like it much, I read it in middle school.
Personally, I don't think I'd find it quite as interesting now (at 19) but the concept is still really cool.
The uglies series is amazing!!
Divergent was a great book!
Loved Divergent!! Can't wait for the second book in the trilogy to come out tomorrow :)
Graceling series rocks!!!! HATED The Giver... absolutly HATED it.
Battle royal is in this kind of story, and is great!
The Chemical Garden books are also great!
Amoung the hidden and Diveregent are amazing!
Life as we knew it series was great!!!
Agree. Hated the giver.
Grace king was awesome!
My daughter just read The Giver in 2 days, she loved it and had a hard time putting it down. She is only 10 but reads at an 8th grade level. I am going to read it now...
Jennifer, The Giver is a wonderful book. I read it to my fifth graders each year. It's a great discussion book. If you're daughter liked it, she might also like the companion books, Messenger and Gathering Blue. They are different characters, but set in the same "world" as The Giver.
I've read most of these books/series. I'd recommend any of them to different readers at different levels. My son loved the Percy Jackson books a few years ago. They're great for boys, lots of humor and very fast-paced. He also liked the Maze Runner books. I liked the City of Ember series and The Uglies series, and I especially loved the Life As We Knew It series. For upper level readers, I would also recommend Unwind by Neal Shusterman, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, The Secret Under My Skin by Janet McNaughton, and Compound by S. A. Bodeen. All of these are great dystopian books.
DIVERGENT is an awesome book.... & the second void insurgent is just as good
If u read the giver u have to read gathering blue and the messenger last it ties the books together.
molls maybe you could find a new series on here...
Divergent was really good.
