Vanessa I agree put bills are the best breed u can have! I love ours more than life! Stop judging pit bulls!
Pit not put ((love my iPhone)) lol
I guess everyone thinks that Pit Bulls are the only breed of dogs that bite!! If someone antagonized or teased me and I couldn't talk, I would bite you too! Lol!! Dobermans, Chows and Rottweilers were all deemed as horrible and vicious dogs, so I guess it's the Pits turn to be misjudged, sad!!
Wow, I didn't know pit bulls could talk! Mine just licks me a lot.
I work at a vet clinic and we have some breeds that come in that are mean. Heelers, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Rottweilers, Dobermans, chihuahua. But no one comments about those on the Internet. I have adopted a pit mix and she is 8 mts old and great! Used to people bred good pots with nice dispositions. But now people just breed pit to pit. It doing checks on dispositions or anything. It's just money for some. Now!
My 40 lb terrier is way more aggressive than my 80 lb American bulldog. I know she's not a pit but the jaw structure is similar. It's all about the dog and how it was raised. Just like people, we all have our moments.
I have 2.... Love them to death
I love our pittbull. She thinks she's a lap dog. She is very sweet and loving. She is a house dog and sis super smart. We trained her well. It does depend on the owner, if they don't get a lot of love, or are raised with anger then blame the owner not the dog.
I have 4 and everyone loves them!! Theyre my baby boys
Love their smiles
I love Pits!! I will continue to rescue them for as long as I can! :)
@phyllis I have 3 different breeds of dog. One being a pit. They way I see it for ANYBODY who owns ANY breed.... If they have teeth, they can bite. Will they? Probably not, but they can.
We adopted, or as my son says "saved her from death roe", our girl 4 years ago. I was trepidatious, now she is the LOVE of my life! Love love love my girl....please be responsible owners...as owners it's our job to WIN/Earn back public approval. Handle with love and CARE :)
Luv em!!!!! Miss my two pits so much!!!
I have a pit, mini schnauzer and a yorkie-poo, I have more trouble with my yorkie-poo aggressive and she rules my boys, tho I have to says she's the youngest, a WIP, but totally adorable! We spend a lot of time with them, they also play very well with our cat Toby! I agree, it's how they are treated and raised. I agree @stacy "handle with love and care!"
I have a Staffordshire Terrier, at least that's what it says on his adoption papers. He looks just like a Pit but he's not very big at all. Either way I love him to death!
I hate that every pit bull picture on pinterest seems to have some ignorant person who has decided to post their ignorance all over the internet. I wish you people only knew how stupid you look. A pit bull is a dog, just like any other dog. ALL dogs can bite, every dog has a different personality and people who properly treat their dogs and properly train their dogs don't have dogs that bite. The media only happens to cover stories that have pit bull dogs. I had to get stiches after I got bit by a purebred black lab but I don't post on every black lab picture on here talking about how their vicious! Get a life people. This is a cute picture and I'm glad there's so many positive pittie comments, besides the two or three ignorant people.
@AmandaBeckwith Yours is probably a stafforshire bull terrier, alot smaller than pitbull terriers but very similar. They are the ones with the signature "wide head"
As for the picture..... PRECIOUS!
Boston Terriers were also bred for fighting, are you going to say they are going to be a liability too? Yes they have been bred for fighting and they were created to fight dogs and bulls but they are still just dogs at the end of the day. The american pit bull terrier is one of the worst bred dogs in the US. Those "traits" don't get passed very well. Training a dog to retrieve or to herd is different than giving a dog a trait to just be aggressive. Dog aggression CAN be more common in pit bull type dogs, but still isn't overly common. Also, human aggression was NEVER one of those "traits" and that's what they get their bad rap for. There's no reason to call them monsters. No matter what they were originally bred for. Especially considering pit bull type dogs that have once been used for dog fighting now live with other dogs and are certified service dogs....SO they are in fact, just a dog. :)
BSL (what you referred to as city ordinances) is basically based on the belief that pit bull type dogs are human aggressive and will kill your children, neighbors, etc. It's not true. Also, vrc published they have the "potential" to be dog aggressive and they also added in the wrong persons hands.(I don't think they'd approve of your comments btw).Maybe you didn't call them monsters, but you say they aren't just dogs so what are they? When you have fostered or rescued or even met a few pit bulls, you may know, but you don't apparently. German Shepherds were illegal to own in the 1920's in certain places, same with rotties and dobermans, it's all a media hype to get ratings. Do some real research please. (also I'm sorry for all the annoying emails pinterest has to send out when someone responds, this is my last one)
These are two beautiful dogs! Pitbull or not they deserve love and respect! Any animal who
Is mistreated will bite. These two dogs are beautiful! I love them! And they love each other!
I'm pretty sure my chihuahua is more vicious then a pitbull...lol!
Madison you are probably right!! My dachshund is more aggressive than any pit I have met!
Well I have a book on pit bulls and they are bred for working with cattle! I have pit bull and she is a loving and sweet dog ! She protects my children as well !!
My purebred pitbull is not aggressive toward other dogs unless he is provoked. We also have a yellow lab, and he's never hurt her, or any other dog (except for the time he was defending himself from a lab in our neighborhood who came running at us out of nowhere). He's also protective of my family, and has never been anything but good to us. My kids have been bitten by dogs on 3 different occasions- once by a jack russell, once by a chihuahua, and once by a scottish terrier. Never by my dog, or my mother-in-law's 2 pitbulls.
There are a lot of poorly informed people commenting. Pure bred pits can have dog aggression bred in but that's not the same as people aggression or prey drive. And being bred for a behavior does not guarantee the behavior will occur. But a responsible pit owner understands the complete history of the pit bull breed, they don't close one eye and pretend like the dogs weren't bred for fighting at one time. That doesn't make them bad dogs, or dangerous dogs, but pretending they are something they are not doesn't help them. I love my pit and I understand his history as a breed.
People who are saying they are "protective" don't understand the dog either. They were never bred as a guardian breed so if you're fog
God dammit. Fucking iPhone app. If your dog is acting aggressive and protective it's not a proper pit bull because they were NEVER bred as a guardian dog. They're more likely to lick an attacker than bit them.
Oh @Kimberly Horst, I read your many comments disagreeing with actual pit bull owners who not only are informed on the breed, but actually HAVE experience with the breed, and I actually found myself saying "just stop already" outloud. I don't normally comment when people are so obviously trying to stir stuff up, but I reached my limit tonight. You can think whatever you want about the dog breed, but keep prejudicial comments to yourself. This was an adorable picture and pittie owners were commenting on it by talking about their sweet babies. You do not need to make it negative. Pinterest is about positivity, not arguing. Just don't comment. It is just a pin and doesn't really affect you at all. The world is horrible enough; we need places to escape from the negativity. I wish you nothing but the best with whatever type of dog your boyfriend and you get.
♥ sweet picture.
Having worked at a vet clinic with 14 abused, ex-fighter pitbulls, I can say that they are one of the most loyal and loving breeds. In my experience, I've found that dog agressive pitbulls are the way they are because of three things: abuse, they were used as fight dogs, or the owner didn't socialize the pitbull with other dogs from a young age. I'm tired of ignorant people spewing crap that they read from the internet. If you don't know/like the breed, don't pin your poorly informed opinion!
Oh and when I say "dog agressive pitbulls" I don't mean all that all pitbulls are, I'm just talking about the ones that happen to show agression. Sorry, poor wording :)
LOVE this picture...what a great depiction of the wonderful loving personalities of these amazing dogs. We just lost our pit bull of 12 1/2 years to cancer in March, and even though he was in pain he was loving and his same gentle soul right up to the end. He lived with 2 cats during his life and was introduced to them as a full grown dog not a puppy (and they were not kittens), was with us as we had our 2 children (now 4 and 7), and loved to play with other dogs. Not once, in those 12 1/2 years did he ever show an inkling of aggression to other animals, children, or other people...the cats would lay on top of him, play with him, bat him in the face, etc and he loved them. My kids pushed, pulled, climbed on, and tugged every part of him they could as very little ones do when they are exploring the world-he just loved them, played, snuggled, and offered constant companionship to our whole family. He truly was the best dog I have ever had and we all miss him terribly. ♥pit bulls♥
This picture made me smile! They are so cute :) I work at a vet clinic with tons of pits coming and they are all big balls of love and so gentle
The ONLY reason I can see for pit bulls to seem aggressive is because for the idiots that fight dogs, or if they were abused.
I love this. Unfortunately I just had to rehome my pit because our neighbors were "scared" of the way she looked. Shes gorgeous and so
I used to have a chihuahua that was meaner than my three pits combined. It's all in how you raise them/ treat them. My pits are my babies and they are so loving! Big ole babies! Lol this picture is awesome!
I love this pic. It reminds me of my pit Bo. He always has the goofy looking permanent smile on his face too. : )
Puppy love ;-)
