A little science...This would fascinate kids. Rainbow roses, you can do this by splitting the stems into strands and placing each one in food colouring the roses draw the liquid colouring into the petals, amazing!

white roses. Split the stems and place in separate containers with food coloring. Change the colors every couple of hours. Due to adhesion and capillary action, the water rises up the stem and deposits the color on the white petal.
