A traditional craft of Kumamoto prefecture. The technique for producing these fans originated in the 1600's and has been handed down for generations. The delicate japanese paper is coated with kaki shibu (persimmon tannin) which makes it quite durable. The fans will age over time to a beautiful deep hue.
