An old man walked down a beach just before dawn. He saw a young man picking up stranded starfish and throwing them back into the sea. The old man asked "Why do you spend energy doing what seems to be a waste of time?" The young man said the starfish would die in the sun. "But there are so many beaches & millions of starfish. How can your efforts make any difference?" The young man looked down at the starfish in his hand, threw it to safety in the sea, & said "It makes a difference to this one!"
