[Step 1] Making Holes in the Pumpkin: Cover every other rib with low-tack masking tape, and then, using a flexible tape measure, make dots every 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches down the side of the pumpkin. Punch through dots with an awl, or use a power drill with a 9/64-inch bit; remove tape.

Hedgehog pumpkins. Use big pumpkins for the hedgehogs' bodies, and attach the heads with toothpicks. To create quills, push white holiday lights through drilled holes that are slightly smaller than the lights.

Cut up pieces of masking tape, stick them on your pumpkin, spray paint your pumpkin black. Let dry, then peel the masking tape off and you have a mosaic pumpkin!
