Molecular Therapy: Click though to read about Stanford's research into molecular therapy as a hearing loss cure, and their search for novel drugs that could be used to either prevent the cochlea from losing hair cells or that could lead to initiation of a self-repair program within the cochlea.
Today brought the publication of very exciting research by our team, who have identified a new progenitor cell type in the cochlea, one that can generate new hair cells and supporting cells. They have also found specific growth factors to control its cell population.
The Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss has launched a new campaign to raise funds for our groundbreaking research. Make and Impact Now!
Hearing Loss Simulator ($1.99) allows you to choose a specific hearing loss configuration and then listen to sounds as though you have that particular hearing loss. Contains pre-recorded common sounds and has the option to let you record your own voice for playback through the different hearing loss configurations. The Hearing Loss Simulator includes graphics to show where the common sounds, speech, and individual speech sounds are located for loudness and frequency.
