This crown made of pearls that hang from 19 diamond arches capped with lover’s knots was composed with existing jewels that Queen Mary had in her collection originated in 1913/1914 Queen Mary modeled it from a tiara owned by her grandmother. After Mary died in 1953, the tiara was passed to Queen Elizabeth II who wore it regularly throughout the 1950s. Queen Elizabeth gave the tiara to Princess Diana as a wedding gift which Diana to be quite heavy therefore opted to wear the Spencer's Tiara.
