The kids then dump them out on a table or on the floor and sort the letters by color. and then they spell each color word using the correct colored letters. As an extension, my little ones love to then write the color words using the correct color of crayon.

Whack-a-word! Call out a word and who ever hits it first with the hammer gets to keep it. This could be a center activity with one student calling out sight words/compound words/etc., or even sentences for fluency and quick recognition.
