Visionary art is a type of "outsider art," or self-taught art produced by people with little or no formal training & little or no connection to the art establishment. But visionary art has an added dimension: Its practitioners feel an overwhelming compulsion, usually religious, to create. They view their imagination as a force of God or nature. In the words of John J.B. Murry, "When I started I prayed & prayed & the Lord sunk a vision from heaven."

In 1977, soon after a dislocated hip forced his retirement, Murry experienced his vision from God, in which he was called to spiritually mediate between God & humankind in a world beset by evil forces. During the last 10 years of his life, Murry created a great number of works which featured his unique spirit script, which he believed contained direct messages from God. Many of his paintings deal with heaven & hell and the battle between good & evil.

If I waited for you as you asked me to how can I say that my love will do as well. Love is always its own separate entity, its thoughts and its action its own. It's true I have some infkuence but only as an uninterested pary in these kinds of things. Perhaps it would be best if your love for me talked to mine for you, then you and I could discuss things that matter, such as will you complain when mddle age, I am not the figure of the youth I once was, and other things of importance such as that.

Today may be as yesterday was before. The light may not illuminate, only cast shadows on the wall of those who walk in day—the forms you now live through. No allegory can defend your self against a hungry cynicism; no explanation will quell the pain of fear that robs you of your best and leaves despair in its place. But think, it was your own strength that brought you to today. Trust that strength to kindle hope, and let that hope illuminate each step, one step at a time along the way up.

“Remembrance of things past is not necessarily the remembrance of things as they were.”

"The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on; it is never of any use to oneself."
