TITANIC: Only Seconds From the time the lookouts sounded the alert, the officers on the bridge had only 37 seconds to react before the Titanic hit the iceberg. In that time, First Officer Murdoch ordered "hard a-starboard" (which turned the ship to port -- left). He also ordered the engine room to put the engines in reverse. The Titanic did bank left, but it wasn't quite enough.

TITANIC ¥ (1912) Isador and Ida Straus. Isador owned Macy's. When the Titanic began to sink, Ida refused to get on a lifeboat without her husband. They were inseperable in life, writing to each other every day they were apart. He was offered a place with her, but HE refused, saying younger men should go in his place. He put his wife's maid on instead. They were last seen sitting together quietly on the deck of the Titanic. I hope to face my end with as much grace.

This is a photo of the iceberg that sunk the Titanic. It was shot by the captain of a steamer ship two days before the Titanic came by the same spot. It’s going up for auction and will most likely sell for between 8K and 10K! via Reddit

Perhaps the most famous true love story from Titanic is that of Isidor and Rosalie Straus, who perished with the Titanic. Rosalie refused a lifeboat. Instead she turned to her husband and said, "We have lived together for many years. Where you go, I go."
