growing sweet potatoes... slips can be started by setting out sweet potatoes in a moist shady spot in the garden, twist off slips, put them in water until they form roots, plant in a sunny spot-- make bed by adding a layer of mulch/leaves/decomposed hay 12 inches deep- 6-8inches thick and add 4-6 inches of soil over top. The underlayer gives a loose layer for the tubers to form in.
