Dulce de leche from "Nestle"
@Kristina Spanjer! This is YOU.
So if you put it into a a pan of boiling water and let it simmer for 3/3 and1/2 hours to you cut the heat down? I'm assuming so?
I use this in sone of my recipes. Yum
Would you be able to wrap this in parchment as candy, or is it too runny?
@Crystal George, boil it on medium heat for 3-3 1/2 hours making sure it is covered with water AT ALL TIMES!
@Amber Cramer, the longer you cook it, the more dense it becomes. If you cook it for about 4 1/2 hours, you can easily put it in parchment paper as candy.
It's really good if you put sliced bananas on the bottom of your graham cracker crust, then pour the caramel on top & top it with a whipped topping. My husband LOVES it. This is his favorite pie/dessert!
Do you keep it in the can? Or pour the condensed milk in a small pot ??
Keep in the can
whoa it appears so good!
incredible that look really nice!
Very sweet...just a small slice of pie will do ya :)
Dulce de leche!!!
I've been looking for real Caramel what is the brand name.
When I make this I use Eagle Brand Sweetened condensed milk. You put two cans in a crock pot and cover with water. Be sure cans are NOT touching, put your crockpot on high for 4 to 5 hours. After that, turn it off, leaving cans in the crockpot, and let them sit overnight. In the morning open the cans and TA-DA!
Thank you Bailey. I'm going to try this.
We do this at home all the time ~ it is delicious! I use it to frost cupcakes and as a filling between cakes
It van also be done on the stove in a pot covered with water and only takes about an hour or two. Let it cool down before opening can. Then you have dulce de leche.
Who knew something that looked so much like dog food would actually look so delicious.
My Belizean friend-sister taught me how to do this. I love it on lemon cale and in between Ritz crackers.
BPA, BPA, BPA. look it up and be very careful with this, ladies.
All u need it is 2 hours in boiled water. In Ukraine we use this all the time !
You shouldn't ever eat food from a dented can... But you'll COOK food in one?!?! Where is your common sense people?
awwww too cool...
@Grace Mackinnon here it is...
just read up about BPA. best to buy caramel squares I guess !
45 minutos na panela de pressão mais o tempo de esfriar, delícia!
If you cook it in a pressure cooker, it'll be done in just 30 mins! :-)
I've been doing this for years and using it as icing for a Caramel cake...and I got the recipe from my grandmother who was doing it LNG before me. Guess what...we're not dead. Calm down people.
The picture doesn't show a dented can...
This worked and tasted delicious. I haven't yet tried
the pie I just made with it, but it should be delish as well :)
Make 2 cans pour in ghramcracker crust top with coolwhip and pecans....delicious!!
The best way to cook this is: transfer the condensed milk into small mason jars, put the jars in a slow cooker, cover them with water and cook on high for four hours.
my family has been doing this for years and it is AMAZING!!!!
In Portugal we make a mousse with this and now it is sold already cooked. Just join 6 egg yolks and beat well, then involve 6 egg whites ... we call it "baba de camelo" ... I do not know why. You can put some crushed nuts on top... hummm :))
This works but beware of the car popping
amazingly delicious =)
My aunt used to make this and I made some last Christmas myself but be warned: DO NOT use the pop top cans! They can explode & it is terribly hard to clean up!
Made some of this it's delicious,
makes for a great caramel pie if you do two cans of sweetened condensed milk on a chocolate graham cracker crust pie, top with minature chocolate chips, and cool whip. YUMMO
This is very popular in Russia as well. VERY GOOD!!
Charlotte howard thank you so much for the mason jar tip...I have a batch in my crock pot right now!!!!!!
Do you leave the Mason Jars open or cover them?
