James Snook - One of England’s last Highwaymen Local legend has it that if you run three times around the commemorative gravestone on Snook’s Moor, between Boxmoor and Bourne End, at midnight and call his name, the ghost of Robert, or ‘Robber’ Snooks will appear. He was reputed to be the last highwayman hanged at the scene of his crime in England.
