Army SGT. Stefan M. Smith, 24, of Glennville, Georgia. Died July 23, 2013, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died in Soltan Kheyl, Vardak Province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
Marine Lance Cpl. Roger W. Deeds Died November 16, 2005 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom 24, of Biloxi, Miss.; assigned to Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward); killed Nov. 16 by enemy small arms fire while conducting combat operations against enemy forces during Operation Steel Curtain in Ubaydi, Iraq.
Army SFC. Trenton L. Rhea, 33, of Oakley, Kansas. Died May 15, 2013, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 603rd Military Police Company, 530th Military Police Battalion, 300th Military Police Brigade, 200th Military Police Command, Belton, Missouri. Died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of drowning while attempting to cross a body of water during combat operations.
Army Staff Sgt. David R. Berry Died February 22, 2007 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom 37, of Wichita, Kan.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 161st Field Artillery, Kansas Army National Guard, Dodge City, Kansas; died Feb. 22 in Qasim, Iraq, when the vehicle he was in was struck an improvised explosive device.
Army Staff Sgt. David F. Day Died February 21, 2005 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom 25, of Saint Louis Park, Minn.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery, 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota Army National Guard, Montevideo, Minn.; killed Feb. 21 when an improvised explosive device detonated as he was assisting injured soldiers in his command in Baghdad.
Army SGT. Stephen M. New, 29, of Bartlett, Tennessee. Died July 28, 2013, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Jackson, Mississippi. Died in the U.S. military hospital at Bagram Airfield, Parwan Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by enemy small arms fire in the Sarobi District of Kabul Province, Afghanistan.
Army SSG. Nicholas J. Reid, 26, of Rochester, New York. Died December 13, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 53rd Ordnance Company (EOD), 3rd Ordnance Battalion (EOD), Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Died in Landstuhl, Germany from wounds suffered on Dec. 9, in Sperwan Village, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
