Fifty Shades of Grey
Just read book one and could not put it down. I wanted to wait to read these on vacation but could not resist now I can't wait for book 2 and 3
If only this was real. We can dream!
Reading it now!!!!! :))))))
Reading book 1 now!! wow
i have read them all and there great
is your sex life more excitingb than this???
Haha, I don't know about "more exciting" ... I just found the writing to be terrible and needed more meat to grab onto. After a few chapters of sex, it became redundant and yawn to me. Believe me, I had high expectations after talking to all my lady friends and was bummed to be disappointed! ;)
I'm about 300 pages into this.. it started out pretty good.. but I've just about had enough "blushing, face going flush, going scarlet", "breath hitching" and "lip biting" for one book lol
@Tina ... Exactly!!!!!! I became desensitized to it after a few "encounters".
Agree that the encounters were redundant. I found myself sort of skipping over some of those parts. I enjoyed the actual story of the characters though.
smut if you ask me.................just porn in words........just sums up the world today...........If you are over 30 and want to read it, fine. But it is sold everywhere with no warning labels. ANd the teenagers are reading it.............you might as well pop a porn tape in for them, same thing!
You can get porn anywhere anytime. It's free all over the Internet and on tv as well. If that's what you're worried about it Elizabeth, you might as well never let your teenagers out of your sites.
I seriously worry for the state of literacy given how popular these books are. Thought they were awful. :/
Read them on vacation... and my hubby has informed me I should reread them every year!! :-)
It's just so poorly written I can't even get through it....
I'm sorry. I'm a huge fan of these books..Putting the sex aside, the way the two charecters grew with each other was quite touching. I've just finished the third book, and I miss it.!
I love it, almost done with the second book. Where do I find my own Christian Grey?
books for people who people who can't read. I agree with @Rebecca Bond. Picked up the first one in a Barnes and Nobel and read part of it.....could not even keep a straight face because the writing is so god awful.
^ LOL! Clearly you didn't read your post Jillian.
Over 30? Last time I checked 18 yr olds are allowed to star in pornos... Get a grip lady.
@Jordan Codd - ditto
@Marcie Jensen- ditto;
@Michelle West - yup, the writing was what threw me off. I didn't even bother finishing the 9th chapter of the first book. :-(
Haters gonna hate! Hahahaha. By the way, @Elizabeth Goins, the legal age to buy pornographic material is 18 through most states. 30? Really? This "warning label" you speak of.. I don't know how many books you have read, but if turn the book over it clearly says "EROTIC ROMANCE - Mature Audience."
If you never finished the trilogy you missed out on a beautiful different kind of love story...
really, if u don't want to read it hen put it down, don't us who enjoyed the books afterall it is all about choice to read or not to read
I did. No biggie. :-)
but it took you up to the 9th chapter to decide you didn't like it? Yeah Ok I believe you when you say you put the book down.;)
<---read all three books and LOVED them! So there!!! LOL
Great triology- an u imagine William Levy as Christian. Gray
I read all three books in about a week and a half, and I'm a married mother of 3 kids! I loved the story! Am recommending it to all my friends and praying they make it into a movie!
i know I think all of us have an inner goddess in us only we didn't want any one to know about it-- i think at this point we all know what goes on behind closed doors only we don't write it down -- too bad-- but she did for all us--
@Sharon K. - -I've had the book for a week, i usually devour books w/in hours. I really tried to like it, the romance was great but it's the repetitive description of biting her lips, multiple orgasms at a drop of a hat...it just didn't appeal to me. yep the sex scenes were great, i even had Matt Bomer as my Christian ;-) but still. I'm happy that you like it. I recommend Gabriel's Inferno, I think you'll like it, it's not as dark as Fifty but the story is nice :-)
Love this series and its ability to pull you in. Check out new tees for us FS fans at my shop on Etsy - Fifty Shades.
For all Fifty Shades fans, if U finished all 3 books and wanted more, well hold on to your panties, I highly recommend U to read BARED TO YOU, A CROSSFIRE NOVEL BY SYLVIA GREY, new book and hot. You can see the cover on my Film,Music & Books board. Also, to inform that they are considering Colin Egglesfield field for the part as C.Grey, U can see his pic on my Wanderlust board. For Ana, I see Felicity Jones or Mila Kunis, what do U think? Loved all 3 books, it was a great, exciting and sexy escape of every day life. I read them just before going to sleep, at least it took my mind away of stress. Lol...
BARED TO YOU....I thought I was going crazy. IMO, this book reads JUST LIKE Fifty Shades. The quality of the writing in Bared was better, Eva was given more of a back story than Ana, and I liked the supporting characters better. But, Gideon is NO Christian!!! I loved Christian right away. By the end of Bared, I'm still not sure how to feel about Gideon. Waiting on the second book to come out to see where this goes.
Best book I have ever read!
Terrible writing, not to mention the dangerous depiction of a BDSM relationship. What is portrayed in the book is an abusive relationship, not a consensual, communicative, healthy one.
loved this book!!
Gosh, I'm so shocked that so many people found this book "well written" and "nothing like it". Obviously it's popular but there are so many other forms of women's erotica out there that are better written, more realistic, and depict ADULT, consensual relationships. Christian is NOT a Byronic hero - he is abusive. Ana isn't so much sexually awakened by Christian, but is manipulated and intimidated by him. Whatever thrill I begin to get from the sex scenes is immediately dampened by their very, very uncomfortable relationship. As with others here, I recommend the Beauty series by Anne Rice. An honest depiction of fantasy. I'm embarrassed the writer of Grey is on the best sellers list.
I couldn't help but start circling every time Ana bit her lip, flushed or spoke about her inner goddess. Ugh! Same with Christians "mercurial personality. The levels of repetition really distract from any narrative in the story. And of course, I kept imagining Kristen Stewart as Ana. : /
Oh thank God. I thought I was the only one who thought this book was terrible. I understand that this is an erotic book but my god, the characters were going at it like rabbits and the dialogue was laughable and the plot was shitty. Hardly any story development and Christian just annoyed the hell out of me with his over protectiveness and Ana was a helpless victim in everything. The whole thing left me unsatisfied. No pun intended.
Okay, first, this is no Austen by any shade of gray you want. However, it is a fun ADULT series. It is titillating, funny, and very 20 something. They 20 year olds trying to figure it out. So, if you don't like, don't read or buy. Just listen to your friends go on about the phenomenon known as Christian Grey!
Great book ♥
