Searles Castle in Great Barrington, MA. It was commissioned in 1888 by Mary Hopkins, widow of railroad millionaire Mark Hopkins. She married Edward Francis Searles, who had designed the interior, while the castle was being built. Hopkins died in 1891, but Searles maintained the castle until his death in 1920
Castell Dolbadarn was built by the Welsh prince Llywelyn the Great during the early 13th century, at the base of the Llanberis Pass, in North Wales.
Pepoli Castle, Erice, Sicily - Pepoli Castle, with foundations dating from Saracen times, was at first a feudal stronghold. Built by the Normans in the 11th century, it has had numerous additions, including three magnificent watch-towers that were built during the 15th century. Still owned by the Pepoli family, the castle has the most breathtaking views from its towers.
