General Grant National Memorial, better known as Grant's Tomb, is a mausoleum containing the bodies of Ulysses S. Grant (1822–1885), American Civil War General and 18th President of the United States, and his wife, Julia Dent Grant (1826–1902). The tomb complex is a presidential memorial in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City.The structure is situated in a prominent location in Riverside Park overlooking the Hudson River.

January 27th, hundreds of metal shoes are placed on the banks of the River Danube in Hungary to mark the slaughter of hundreds of Jewish people who were ordered to place their shoes on the bank before being shot and pushed in the river by Hungarian militamen. A terrible and poignant reminder of the atrocities committed in WW2.
