One winter day, I decided to explore the West Boulder River and East Boulder River valleys in southern Montana. I took a few pictures along the way, but it was not till late afternoon that I came upon this snow drifted scene. A spring near Wright Gulch had released clouds of water vapor on the nearby spruce trees, covering them thickly with intricately shaped flakes of frost. The light of the setting sun backlit the frost, and everything the light touched sparkled brightly. - Gerald Blank
