Beluga!!! nuk is the Mystic Aquarium's male Beluga whale. He is an amazing creature who shows a great deal of curiosity and intelligence. When the crowds are thin at the Aquarium and there are only a few people in front of the glass he will sometimes stay and watch those people closely. Especially children who are more calm.

Meet Jack and Daisy. These two harbour porpoises have amazing survival stories to share with you. They were both found as very young animals stranded on beaches, Jack in 2011 in Horseshoe Bay and Daisy in 2008 off the coast of Vancouver Island. No one knows how or why they were stranded but the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Centre was called in on both cases to help right away.

Kyle L. Poirier, Butterfly in August, 2012 From the artist: "Butterfly in August is another Vancouver Aquarium inspired painting. How so you may be wondering? Well, besides the tank and pools of aquatic creatures, there just happens to be a small Amazon rain forest display that you can wander through. As you make your way along the zigzag path in a very hot and humid environment, there are parrots, monkeys, and butterflies everywhere to see!"

Each year we help rescue and rehabilitate threatened snowy plover chicks. We have four behind the scenes right now!

A cool-water fish, the blue-spotted jawfish makes a wonderful aquarium specimen for large tanks with plenty of hiding places.
