The Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is an opportunity to learn Mayan. The Hanal Pixán celebration takes place from October 31 to November 2. The Hanal Pixan, or "Food of Souls," is a special ritual in its implementation involving the whole family. The women are responsible for preparing the food and place the altar for offerings while the men dig the hole and prepare the mucbil muuk, or baked chicken, a special dish for this occasion.
