The BYU Bookstore was originally called the Students’ Supply Association when it began operations in the 1906-1907 school year, it was approved under President George H. Brimhall’s administration. The BYU Bookstore's original funding didn't come from students but rather from Mr. R. E. Allen, a distinguished alumnus, who donated some old grocery store fixtures to help it get started.
