Texas Parks and Wildlife The smalleye shiner and sharpnose shiner are found nowhere in the world besides the Brazos River. When last year's intense drought threatened the shiners' last remaining stronghold, scientists at the Possum Kingdom Fish Hatchery collected and held shiners over the winter to restock into the Brazos.
