Tikvenik recipe -- Tikvenik is a traditional Bulgarian dessert. It is a kind of banitsa, or pie made with filo pastry, and it is filled with pumpkin. (Generally a banitsa can contain cheese, onions or nuts instead of pumpkin). Usually I substitute the pumpkin for butternut squash, which is more traditional in Bulgaria.

Salenjaci Pastry made with pork fat seem like some sort of joke, but salenjaci used to be one of the most common deserts in many parts of Croatia. Flaky pastry is made with minced fat, and stuffed with apricot or plum jam, or walnut filling, prior to baking. So delicious... yummy!
